President

Doug has served as President of Alfa Alliance since 2002, the same year he joined the company. Following his graduation from Gettysburg College with a degree in Business Administration, he began his insurance career in 1979 with Allstate Insurance. He held a variety of management positions at Allstate, Crum and Foster and Fireman’s Fund before joining Alfa Alliance. Doug currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, where he served as Chairman of the Board in 2012. He is also Chairman of the Board for the Virginia Property and Casualty Guaranty Association. Doug is a member of Computer Sciences Corporation’s Advisory Board.

Chief Information Officer

Matt oversees the continued development and maintenance of technology services throughout Alfa Alliance where he is responsible for a wide variety of strategic technology issues: governance and policy, information technology protocols, and the Alfa Alliance Information Technology organization. Prior to Matt joining Alfa Alliance in 2015. He managed the Customer Interface team at Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group (a W.R. Berkley company), overseeing the development and maintenance of external facing applications as well as the Claims and Finance applications. Matt holds a BS in Finance with a double major in Management from Virginia Tech and a MBA from Averett University.

Vice President Marketing and Integrated Services

Scott is responsible for Alfa Alliance’s Marketing and Integrated Services groups, responsible for company advertising and systems testing. He has been with Alfa Alliance since 2006. After receiving an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, Scott began his insurance career in 1985 with Progressive Insurance, working for more than 20 years with responsibilities in pricing analysis, product development and marketing. He received his MBA from the University of Richmond in 1993. Scott has served on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for DRIVE Smart Virginia, and served two years as Chairman of the Board. Scott was also a member of Hartford Steam Boiler's Advisory Board.

Vice President Commercial Lines and Analytics

Shawn manages the company’s Analytics and Commercial Lines groups. He is responsible for companywide analytical support, commercial lines underwriting and product development. Shawn has been with Alfa Alliance since 2010 and in the insurance industry since 2001. Prior to joining Alfa Alliance, Shawn worked for Nationwide Insurance, where he was responsible for Product and Underwriting Management. He received a bachelor’s degree from Lynchburg College in 2003 and his MBA in 2004. He also earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2005.

Vice President Claims and Operations

Ken manages Alfa Alliance’s Claims and Operations groups. His teams are responsible for property and casualty claims and operational support for the company. Ken has been with Alfa Alliance since 1986 and in Risk Management since 1980. Prior to joining the company, he served in the Marine Corps as a plane captain responsible for quality assurance. Ken has an Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and currently serves as the Claims Chairman of the Board of the Virginia Property Insurance Association. Ken has served as a board member of the Professional Claims Association and Richmond Claims Association, and also as a member of the NAMIC Claims Committee.

Vice President Personal Lines and Agency Sales

Ron joined Alfa Alliance in 2011 and currently leads the company’s Personal Lines Underwriting and Agency Sales groups. Previously he worked for 18 years at Nationwide Insurance in a variety of roles responsible for underwriting, portfolio management, operations, product management and pricing. Ron combines his prior insurance experiences into new opportunities to help Alfa Alliance agencies achieve and maintain profitable growth. Ron earned a bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College, where he played football. He later earned his MBA from Franklin University in Columbus, OH.
